Mantax - Manchester's Largest People Carrier
Established in 1962 and under current ownership since 1978, Mantax Radio Taxis has now firmly established itself as Manchester’s leading supplier of purpose built Hackney Carriages to the City’s business community.
In recent years, the profile of our Company has changed significantly with the development of a substantial account customer base. This has grown due to the demand for purpose built Hackney Carriages from a wide range of business and personal users in Manchester and our clients include many of the country’s leading financial, legal and media institutions as well as the public sector. We also specialise in the supply of services to users with special needs and the wheelchair accessible conditions that apply to taxis in Manchester have created an increasing demand.
The focus of our Company is the delivery of a high standard, cost effective service to our clients. This has resulted in the company attracting more customers and, therefore, more drivers. As a result of this growth and in our drive for continual improvement, we are now firmly established in our state of the art Call Centre which lies in the shadow of the new City of Manchester stadium in Eastlands.
On this site, Mantax has had installed its own Windows 2003 network on which runs the Autocab Taxi Booking and Dispatch software, providing e-mail and paperless fax direct to our Booking Agents computers. This system integrates with the latest Inter-Tel Axxess telephone system.
We have a dedicated Client and Driver services department dealing with account preparation and invoice and driver queries.
To ensure that Mantax continues to provide an effective and quality service to both customers and drivers, the Management Team have recently undertaken a review of personnel within the Company and re structured the workforce to now include 3 Supervisors, 10 Call Centre Operatives (including 5 Dispatchers), 3 Accounts and Administration staff and 1 Technicians.
Mantax are actively involved in trade issues and sit on the Manchester Cab Committee and the Manchester City Council trade liaison group.
Today, with a fleet of over 300 taxis, Mantax are the market leaders in the City of Manchester and we firmly believe that we are well placed to continue to provide a high quality, cost effective service to our existing and future customers.
More lady drivers are getting behind the wheel of Mantax Cabs. Mantax Taxis actively encourage women to join the taxi-trade and undertake the knowledge test. Our customers respond well to the presence of a lady driver.
Former Mantax dispatcher Debbie Dodd 29 says ‘of course taxi driving is a non traditional job for women and passing the Manchester knowledge test was tough. Customers are often surprised to see a woman behind the wheel, I recall a passenger once asking me if the test was the same for men as women!!’
